Katie has had a long history with us. She was rescued several years ago from the streets, and was considered feral. She has, until recently, always stayed behind the scenes, out of the "limelight," hiding from humans and not bonding with any of us. Because of this, we really could not form much of an opinion about her personality. Then, about a year ago, one of our senior cats, Willie, took a liking to Katie, and the two became inseparable. With Willie's love, Katie began to blossom and became a bit more friendly to some of our volunteers. She also developed budding friendships with some of the other cats. However, in late 2019, Willie took a turn for the worse, and passed away. We worried about how this would affect Katie, but here is what one of our cat socializers recently observed: "Katie is a little sweetie pie, she seems to be ok with Willy being gone. I think she is closer now to Bonnie, Blinky & Raven, Basia. She was sleeping on the cat tree in middle with all the other kitties." Katie may now be at the point that a patient, understanding home can be found, where she can continue her progress in becoming happier, confident, and more trusting. Perhaps a home that is quiet, stable, and that has another cat who would befriend her.
